Health students

A platform designed for health students

Health studies demand a major commitment and steady preparation over time. Spending more hours revising is not always enough: you also need to know where to focus your efforts and how to organise your work to prepare for the exams and competitive assessments that shape the rest of your path.

PASS · LAS

Succeed in your first year to enter health studies

PASS and LAS are the two main routes into medicine, midwifery, dentistry, pharmacy and physiotherapy. Same goal, but a different set-up and different challenges.

PASS

A first year mainly dedicated to health

In PASS, you follow a health major and spend most of your year on scientific subjects: biology, physics, chemistry, anatomy and histology, alongside a minor in another discipline.

The challenge

Absorb a dense, demanding curriculum all year long and prepare steadily and consistently for the selection exams.

LAS

A degree completed by a health option

In LAS, you mainly follow a discipline-based bachelor's degree, for example in law, psychology, science or sports science, with additional health courses such as chemistry, cell biology or histology.

The challenge

Pass your degree while preparing for the health courses, so you get the results that will take you into the second year of health studies.

Reform in preparation

Where does the PASS/LAS reform stand?

A national consultation opened in October 2025 to reshape access to health studies, five years after PACES was scrapped. The framework is set; the detail is not.

  • What has been announced

Three stated goals: simplify the routes, harmonise the rules between universities, keep the diversity of student profiles.

  • What is still open

The exact content will depend on the consultation, the proposals retained and the passage through Parliament.

  • The timeline

Announced to take effect by the 2027 intake at the latest. Your current year is not affected.

Our blog follows the reform in detail: the limits of the current system, the stated goals and what is still to be settled.
